Uploading files with Files
Upload files directly to your Peak data lake using the Files interface. This is the quickest way to ingest files for immediate analysis or ad hoc data uploads.
Prerequisites
Before uploading files, ensure you have the following:
- You have write access to the target folder in Files.
- You are uploading to a folder other than the Files Home folder.
Steps
Follow these steps to upload files:
- In Peak, open Manage and select Files.
- Open the destination folder and select Upload files.
- Drag files into the upload window or select files from your device.
- Review validation results and remove any invalid files.
- Select Upload files.
- Monitor the upload progress for each file.
- (Optional) Select the X icon next to a file to cancel that upload.
File upload requirements
When uploading files with Files, ensure the following requirements are met:
- File names can include letters (
a-z,A-Z), numbers (0-9), and these special characters:! - _ . * ' ( ). - File names cannot include
#or+. - File extensions must be lowercase.
- Files cannot be empty.
- Files with the
.exeextension are not supported. - File names must be unique within a destination folder.
If a file with the same name already exists in the destination folder, you can:
- Replace the existing file.
- Keep both files. Files renames the new file by adding a timestamp.
For additional naming guidance, see File formats and naming conventions.
Result
Files uploads each file and shows progress until completion. Uploaded files appear in the destination folder and are listed in Existing files. You can navigate to other Peak areas while uploads continue.
