Creating a file feed from Files
Create a file feed from Files to automatically ingest data from uploaded files on every feed run. This enables recurring data loads from files you've organized in your data lake.
Prerequisites
Before creating a file feed, ensure you have the following:
- You have uploaded the file to Files.
- If the file is part of a recurring feed, the file name includes a timestamp.
- You have permissions to create data feeds.
Steps
Follow these steps to create a file feed:
- In Peak, open Manage and select Files.
- Start feed creation using one of these options:
- Open the file action menu and select Create feed.
- Open the file Information tab and select Create feed.
- If no file with the same name already exists in the target upload location, review the copy message and select Create feed.
- Peak copies the file to the uploads location and opens Create feed > Import configuration with the selected file pre-populated.
- In Import configuration, confirm the file and select the file type.
Use these fields to define the file format:
- File type: CSV, JSON, or XML.
- CSV separator: comma, tab, or pipe.
- XML root tag: required when XML is selected.
- Select the load type and enter a feed name.
Use these rules for primary keys and feed names:
- Primary key: required for upsert feeds.
- Feed name: use letters, numbers, and underscores only; start with a letter; do not end with an underscore; maximum 50 characters.
- Select Next to open Destination.
- Select the destination and select Next. For destination options, see Destination options.
- Configure a trigger or select Run once. For trigger types, see Triggers and watchers.
- Select Save.
Result
A new file feed appears in Manage > Data Sources.
