Prerequisites

Before using the UiPath solution for merchandising, ensure that the following requirements are met. These requirements help ensure that the solution can generate reliable merchandising insights and support demand-shaping decisions.

Organizational requirements

The merchandising solution is designed for organizations that actively manage product assortments, promotions, and pricing decisions.

To use this solution effectively:

  • Merchandising responsibilities should be clearly defined across product or category teams.
  • Merchandising decisions should be reviewed regularly as part of campaign, seasonal, or promotional planning cycles.
  • Pricing and inventory stakeholders should be able to coordinate with merchandising teams to align decisions across supply and demand.

The solution supports merchandising decision-making but does not execute promotional or pricing changes directly.

Data readiness requirements

The merchandising solution relies on business data that already exists in the organization's systems.

Before onboarding:

  • Product and location metadata must be available.
  • Historical demand or sales data should be available to understand product performance over time.
  • Pricing history should be available when merchandising decisions involve markdown or promotional pricing.
  • Inventory availability data should be accessible to ensure merchandising actions align with operational constraints.

For detailed dataset and field-level requirements, see Merchandising data requirements.

Platform and access requirements

The merchandising solution is delivered through the Peak platform and relies on platform capabilities for data integration, analytics, and decision workflows.

To use the solution:

  • Users must have access to the relevant Peak applications and workspaces.
  • Data connectors must be configured to ingest the required datasets.
  • Access is controlled through role-based permissions.

The Peak platform provides tools such as connectors, data management, and analytics capabilities that support these workflows

Operational considerations

Merchandising insights depend on the availability and quality of historical data.

To generate meaningful recommendations:

  • Historical demand patterns must be available for the products being analyzed.
  • Promotional or campaign history improves the accuracy of demand impact evaluation.
  • Pricing decisions should be reviewed alongside inventory availability to avoid stock imbalances.

Merchandising decisions should be revisited regularly as demand conditions, inventory levels, and business objectives evolve.
