About the inventory management solution

Introduction to Inventory Management

Inventory Management helps organizations plan and manage inventory across complex supply networks. It supports decisions around how much inventory and safety stock to hold, how this varies across the network, and when to replenish it, all whilst balancing service and cost.

It provides supply chain teams with the tools they need to optimize every SKU in every location, leveraging AI models to generate intelligent demand forecasts and recommend the optimal volumes of inventory to hold at any given time. Rather than relying on static rules or manual analysis, Inventory Management applies consistent, data-driven decision logic to help teams evaluate trade-offs and prioritize actions. This helps organisation find the best balance between cost and service, even in volatile environments.

Inventory Management is designed for environments where inventory decisions must be made across many SKUs and locations at scale. More specifically, Manufacturing, CPG and Distribution businesses that hold made to stock products at risk and are subject to mainly unknown demand from lots of customers.

The solution focuses on generating inventory insights and recommendations, not on replacing systems of action. It will, however, integrate directly into systems of action for seamless processing. Teams use these outputs to inform decisions such as purchasing and production, retaining control over how and when changes are applied.

When the inventory management solution is a good fit

You should consider using the UiPath solution for inventory management if your organization:

  • Manages inventory across many products, locations, or channels, making it difficult to maintain a consistent view of inventory health.
  • Needs to balance service levels, inventory costs, and working capital, with frequent trade-offs between competing objectives.
  • Experiences demand variability or uncertainty that reduces the effectiveness of static inventory rules.
  • Relies on manual analysis or spreadsheets to identify risks, prioritize actions, or plan demand.
  • Wants to apply consistent decision logic at scale, while still allowing teams to review and control recommended actions.

This solution is particularly useful when inventory decisions must be revisited frequently and when small improvements in planning accuracy can lead to meaningful improvements in service, cost, or customer satisfaction

Scope and responsibilities

This Inventory Management solution is designed to support planning and decision-making. Inventory transactions, warehouse operations, and other execution workflows are typically handled by existing enterprise systems, including ERP systems. The solution complements these by integrating directly and helping teams decide what actions to take, whilst actual execution remains in the systems of action already used by the organization.

Optional modules

The following modules are available as optional additions to the inventory management solution for an additional cost. Contact your UiPath representative for information about enabling optional modules.

Buy

The Buy module generates optimized supplier purchase order recommendations at the SKU-location level. Recommendations include reorder volume in units and costs and consider supplier and SKU-level minimum order quantities and pack sizes, basket filling and anticipated future orders.

Make

The Make module generates optimized production plans over an agreed time horizon at the SKU level. Recommendations include production volumes, priority rankings and consider production, yield, and other key logic.

Move

The Move module generates optimized replenishment orders from a central warehouse or distribution center at the SKU-location level. Recommendations include replenishment volume in units and costs and consider SKU-level minimum order quantities and pack sizes, as well as other business logic.
