Suppliers dataset
The suppliers dataset contains metadata for external suppliers used by the inventory management solution. It defines who supplies products to the organization and provides reference information used across planning and replenishment analysis.
This dataset supports the interpretation of purchase orders and order parameters by identifying the source of supply.
Purpose
The inventory management solution uses the suppliers dataset to:
- Identify the suppliers associated with replenishment activities
- Support analysis of supply lead times and ordering behavior
- Provide context for purchase orders and order parameters
During planning and analysis, supplier metadata helps ensure that replenishment assumptions are applied correctly.
Required fields
| Field | Description | Type | Use | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
supplier_id | Unique identifier for the supplier. | string | Application | Required |
supplier_name | Name of the supplier. | string | Application | Optional. Improves readability and reporting. |
updated_at | Date and time (UTC) when the record was created or last updated. | datetime | Application | Optional |
Usage notes
- Every supplier referenced in the Purchase orders or Order parameters datasets must exist in the suppliers dataset.
- Supplier identifiers must be consistent across all datasets.
- If internal distribution centres are treated as supply sources, they may appear as suppliers or be represented through location-based sourcing, depending on the customer setup.
- Additional supplier attributes can be incorporated during onboarding if required for specific planning scenarios.
