Maestro user guide
Visually organizing your BPMN process helps improve readability and minimizes design errors. Maestro provides tools to align, connect, and adjust BPMN elements quickly—especially useful when building complex workflows with branching logic, agent calls, or queues.
Use the alignment feature to keep your process canvas tidy and readable. Alignments help ensure parallel branches, conditional flows, or grouped tasks remain visually consistent.
- Select two or more elements using Shift + Select or drag to multi-select.
- Use the alignment toolbar that appears above the selection.
- Select how to align the elements:
- Left
- Horizontally center
- Tight
- Top
- Vertically center
- Bottom

Use the connector tool to define the execution flow between elements. This ensures that your process logic is valid and executable.
- Hover over a BPMN node to reveal the circular connector port.
- Drag from the port to another element on the canvas.
- Release to form a connection. The arrow snaps into place.
For junctions or multi-branch decisions, this connection method ensures consistency and error-free flow execution.

As your process grows, connection paths can become crowded or visually confusing. Maestro lets you control both the direction of the flow and how the connector lines are drawn.
Change connection points
Every element has connection ports on all four sides. By default, Maestro picks the closest logical side—but you can manually reassign it.
To change a connection point:
- Hover over an existing connector until the arrowhead becomes active.
- Drag the arrowhead to a different side of the target element.
- Release to reconnect.
Use this when:
- You want flows to enter or exit from a specific direction.
- You’ve reorganized the layout and want cleaner routing.

Adjust connector paths
You can also reshape the connector lines themselves to improve clarity.
To adjust connector paths:
- Select a connector line to show its bend handles.
- Drag the handles to reposition corners or smooth out the path.
Use this to:
- Avoid overlapping lines.
- Align parallel flows.
- Improve canvas readability for presentations or reviews.

When you select a BPMN node, a floating element toolbar appears, letting you quickly extend the process with context-aware components.
To use the toolbar:
- Select an element to reveal the toolbar.
- Hover over an icon to view a tooltip for that element type.
- Select the desired element to insert and auto-connect it.
- Double-select the new node to rename or configure it.
This speeds up process design—especially helpful for building multi-step flows or branching logic.
