Export Spreadsheet

Export Spreadsheet activity that exports a LibreOffice Calc spreadsheet to another file format.

UiPath.LibreOfficeCalc.Activities.ExportSpreadsheet

Note:

The LibreOffice Calc activities package is available in preview.

Description

Exports the specified spreadsheet to another file format. The source file is left unchanged.

This activity exports a LibreOffice Calc spreadsheet to a new file in the format you choose (ODS, XLSX, CSV, HTML, or PDF) and returns the exported file as a resource.

You can pass the result directly to the Resource file field of another LibreOffice Calc activity, without going through a file path.

Note:

This package requires LibreOffice to be installed, and runs on Windows x64 or macOS 13.3 or later on Apple Silicon.

Project compatibility

Windows | Cross-platform

Configuration

You can configure the activity and its properties as follows:

  • File path - The path to the source spreadsheet file (.ods, .xlsx, .csv). The field also accepts a file resource through the Use resource file option in the plus menu, which replaces this field with Resource file. When the activity is placed inside a Use Spreadsheet Document scope, this field is replaced by Spreadsheet document, which is bound to the document opened by the scope.
  • Destination folder - The folder where the exported file is written. The folder must exist.
  • File name - The name of the exported file, without extension. The extension is appended automatically based on the selected format.
  • Format - The file format of the exported file. Select one of the following options:
    • XLSX - Office Open XML Spreadsheet (.xlsx). This is the default option.
    • ODS - OpenDocument Spreadsheet (.ods).
    • CSV - Comma-separated values (.csv). A CSV file holds a single sheet, so only the first sheet of the spreadsheet is exported, and only cell values are written. Formulas and formatting are not preserved.
    • HTML - HTML document (.html).
    • PDF - PDF document (.pdf).
Note:

For more details on the plus menu options, see Designing automations.

Properties panel

Options
  • If the file already exists - What to do if a file already exists at the destination. Select one of the following options:
    • Don't replace - Fails if an existing file is found. This is the default option.
    • Replace - Overwrites the existing file.
    • Auto rename - Appends a numeric suffix until a unique name is found.
  • Destination password - An optional password to protect the exported file. Only applies to formats that support encryption (ODS, XLSX); ignored for CSV, HTML, and PDF.
  • Password - The password to open a password-protected source spreadsheet file. Leave empty for unprotected files.
Output
  • Exported file - The exported file. You can pass it directly to the Resource file field of another LibreOffice Calc activity, or read its local path to get the full path of the file. The file name differs from the requested one when the conflict behavior is Auto rename.
