Review a summary
Review an AI-generated clinical summary to verify its accuracy against the source medical record, then approve, reject, or override it. Opening a summary in the Clinical Review queue automatically transitions it to Review started status and assigns the review to you.
Prerequisites
- You have access to the Medical Record Summarization application.
- You are a member of the MRSReviewer local group in Automation Cloud and have been assigned as a reviewer for the relevant template.
- At least one summary is available in the Clinical Review queue with Ready or Review started status.
If the template creator doesn't identify any reviewers, all individuals and local groups in MRSReviewer can see the output in the review queue.
Open a summary for review
-
Select Clinical review in the left navigation sidebar.
-
Use the Status filter to select Ready to display summaries that have not yet been opened by any reviewer.
-
Select the row for the summary you want to review.
The review detail view opens. A Review started notification appears in the header, confirming that the summary status has transitioned and the review is now assigned to you.
Review the AI-generated summary
The left panel displays the AI-generated summary organized into the sections defined by the template. The right panel displays the source PDF.
To verify a claim against the source document:
-
Locate an inline citation marker (for example, [3]) in the summary text.
-
Select the citation number.
Result: The PDF viewer in the right panel automatically navigates to the page containing the source passage that supports the cited claim.
-
Repeat for each citation you want to verify.
Approve a summary
Approved and Rejected are terminal states and cannot be undone. Once a summary reaches either status, the output (including the original AI-generated summary and any reviewer override) is available in the MRS_Output entity in Data Fabric for use in downstream workflows. See MRS output data.
If the AI-generated content is accurate and complete, select Approve in the header.
Result: The summary status changes to Approved and the record is removed from the active review queue. The approval is recorded in the deployment's Feedback tab.
Reject a summary
If the summary is inaccurate, incomplete, or otherwise unsuitable, select Reject in the header.
Result: The summary status changes to Rejected. The record is flagged and may be reprocessed depending on your organization's workflow configuration.
Override a summary
If the summary is mostly correct but requires edits before approval:
-
Select Override in the content panel.
A rich text editor toolbar appears at the top of the summary content. The text becomes directly editable.
-
Edit the summary content as needed. The editor supports paragraph styles, bold, italic, underline, bullet lists, numbered lists, and task lists.
-
When the edits are complete, select Approve in the header.
Result: The edited summary is saved and approved. The override is recorded in the template's Feedback tab, including the section that was changed, the reviewer's name, the date, and any feedback reason captured during the workflow.

View the external summary (if enabled)
If the Embed external summary experimental feature is enabled, a second tab labeled External summary appears in the right panel alongside the PDF tab.
Select External summary to display the summary retrieved from the configured external system. Use this tab to compare the AI-generated output with an existing summary from a source system such as an EHR or payer portal. */}
