Manage review workflows

Create review workflows in Medical Record Summarization with custom completion statuses, and assign a workflow to a template so reviewers select from those statuses.

A review workflow defines the completion statuses a reviewer chooses from when they finish reviewing a summary. Create a workflow that matches your organization's review process, then assign it to one or more templates so that every summary produced by those templates completes the same way. Completion statuses also drive what happens next: downstream automations that consume the review output can branch on the status the reviewer selected.

Prerequisites

Note:

Only Completed review states are customizable. Earlier states in the review lifecycle, such as queued and ready for review, are fixed.

Create a review workflow

  1. Select Admin in the left navigation sidebar.

  2. Select Workflow management.

  3. Select the add icon next to Workflow mappings.

  4. In Name, enter a name for the workflow.

  5. Optionally, enter a Description explaining what the workflow is used for.

  6. Select Create workflow.

Result: The workflow is created with no statuses and is selected in the mappings list. Add its completion statuses next.

Add a completion status

  1. Select the workflow in the Workflow mappings list.

  2. Select Add status.

  3. In Name, enter the status name as reviewers will see it.

  4. Optionally, enter a Description explaining when reviewers should pick this status.

  5. Select Add.

Result: The status is added to the workflow's Completed group and becomes selectable by any reviewer working on a template mapped to this workflow.

Edit or remove a status

Select the edit icon on a status row to change its name or description, or the delete icon to remove it.

Note:

A workflow assigned to a template cannot be deleted; unassign it from every template first. A status cannot be edited or removed once a review has been completed with it.

The default review workflow

Every tenant includes a built-in Default review workflow containing two statuses, Approved and Rejected. This workflow is used by any template that has no other workflow assigned.

The default workflow and its two statuses cannot be modified or removed. To offer reviewers a different set of statuses, create your own workflow and assign it to the relevant templates.

Assign a workflow to a template

  1. Select Templates in the left navigation sidebar.

  2. Select the template, then select Edit template.

  3. Select in the editor header, then select Advanced settings.

  4. Select Workflow mapping.

  5. Select a workflow from the Workflow list.

The Statuses list below shows the completion statuses that workflow provides. It is read-only here.

Note:

Once a review has been completed with one of the workflow's statuses, the template's assigned workflow can no longer be changed from this page.

  1. Select Save settings.

Result: When a reviewer selects Complete review on a summary produced by this template, the Completed status list offers exactly the statuses defined by the assigned workflow.
