A new Policies section in the left navigation sidebar lets you turn a written policy into a decision model that Medical Record Summarization can apply to clinical records.

You upload the policy document as a PDF. Common examples include payer coverage policies, hospital or health system protocols, and medical coding guidelines. Any document that carries rules or criteria that must be evaluated consistently and accurately can be used, such as a standard operating procedure, a scoring methodology, or a list of rules.

The Policy Engine then:

A decision profile is either a Direct decision profile, where the AI picks one of your outcomes for each case, or a Scored decision profile, where conditions contribute points and score bands map ranges of points to outcomes. Within a rule tree, each rule group specifies how its items are judged: All are required, Any 1 is required, or First match.

Saving an edited policy creates a new numbered decision model version, and cases that have already been decided keep the version they ran against. Once a policy exists, it can be added to a template as a Policy section, alongside the existing Summary and Q+A section types.

At run time, Medical Record Summarization evaluates the policy's rules against the record and returns:
