UiPath Platform Installer user guide
When a new version is available, the UiPath Platform Installer applies it differently on attended machines and unattended robots.
Attended machines
When the update policy sets a postpone period (in days), you can postpone an available update for up to that many days. While the update is pending:
- A notification is shown every day, so you can postpone again or update now.
- 30 minutes before the update is forced, a final notification is shown.
- After the final notification, the update is applied automatically.
Unattended robots
On unattended robots, updates are applied automatically and gracefully. The robot installs the update between job executions, so a running job is never interrupted, and no notifications or user action are involved.
Result
On attended machines, the update is deferred until you apply it or until the postpone period set in the policy ends. On unattended robots, the update is applied on its own between jobs. Because updates download in the background, they complete quickly when applied. Administrators set the postpone period through policy — see the admin guide.
