Document Understanding Modern Projects User Guide

The UiPath Helix Extractor 2.0 large language model (LLM) supports a new extraction model that improves extraction accuracy and training performance for Modern projects. During preview, the new model can be enabled at the project level and applied selectively to document types.
You can enable the new extraction model in the following ways:
- When creating a Modern Project: During project creation, enable the New extraction model option in the setup flow. All document types added to the project use the new extraction model by default.
- Within an existing Modern
Project: To enable the new extraction model, follow the steps detailed
below:
- Open Project Settings.
- Enable the New extraction model toggle.
- Save your changes.
Note: After enabling the new model:
- Newly created document types use the new extraction model for training.
- A new training instance is triggered for all document types in the project.
To verify which extraction model is used:
- Create a new project version.
- Select Edit version.
- Review the model version associated
with each document type.
Important:
- The new extraction model version is 25.9.X.
- Document types with pinned model versions in existing project versions are not affected and continue using their original model versions.
The new model becomes the default for all document types when enabled. You can still select a different extraction model for each document type:
- Open Document Type Manager.
- Select a document type.
- Open Settings.
- Select the extraction model and
choose Save.
Note: Saving the change triggers a new training event for that document type.
