ScreenPlay is now GA

We are excited to announce that ScreenPlay is now generally available (GA), and is UiPath®’s next-generation automation agent, designed to bring agentic behavior and cognitive capabilities to the desktop. ScreenPlay interacts with applications much like a human would—navigating interfaces, adapting to change, and handling complex tasks that were previously infeasible with traditional automation methods.

What's new

ScreenPlay comes with the following novelties:

  • Autonomous UI interaction: ScreenPlay autonomously navigates user interfaces, adapting to UI changes without requiring manual updates to selectors.
  • Self-healing capabilities: Automation workflows are more resilient, continuing to function even when UI structures change.
  • Contextual understanding: Enables semantic-based interaction, such as extracting list items based on meaning rather than position.
Key benefits

ScreenPlay includes the following key benefits:

  • Reduced Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
    • Self-healing reduces the need for frequent maintenance.
    • Eliminates the brittleness often associated with selector-based automation.
    • Simplifies automation of edge cases that stay within the semantic scope of the workflow.
  • Lower barrier to automation development
    • Automates complex and dynamic interactions more easily by targeting elements that reposition based on content, and by extracting data based on context or semantic cues.
    • Handles high-variance scenarios without custom exception handling logic.
  • Expanded automation scenarios
    • Supports new use cases that were previously difficult or impossible, by automating form submissions across hundreds of uniquely structured websites, and through intelligent decision-making based on UI content and workflow context.
Cognitive and agentic capabilities

ScreenPlay has the following cognitive and agentic capabilities:

  • Cognitive navigation: For example, browsing a vendor catalog to locate items that match descriptive criteria.
  • In-context decision-making: Identifying and selecting relevant GitHub repositories and composing personalized messages.
  • Intelligent summarization: Aggregating insights from multiple sources (e.g. employee feedback) into a single view.
Platform integration
  • Deep RPA integration: Combines seamlessly with traditional RPA and API automation in the UiPath platform.
  • Computer Vision synergy: Works alongside Computer Vision for enhanced robustness in UI-based automation.
  • Cross-platform support: Available on macOS and Linux, expanding deployment flexibility.

ScreenPlay bridges the gap between rigid RPA, and intelligent autonomy by enabling more resilient, scalable, and intuitive automation by leveraging AI agents that think, and act like users.
