Chromium Automation

Guides and resources for automating Chrome, Edge, and other Chromium-based browsers using the Chrome DevTools Protocol, with no extension or WebDriver binary required.

Guides and resources for automating browsers using Chromium Automation.

Chromium Automation is a browser automation method that controls Chrome, Edge, and other Chromium-based browsers directly through the Chrome DevTools Protocol (CDP). UiPath launches and manages the browser session internally, so no browser extension and no WebDriver binary are required.

To learn about Chromium Automation, check out the following sections:

  • About Chromium Automation — what Chromium Automation is, how UiPath implements it, and which browsers it supports.
  • Configuration Steps — how to enable Chromium Automation for an activity or as a project default, and how to run it visible or headless.
  • Known Issues and Limitations — behaviors and constraints to keep in mind when you build your automation project.
Note:

Chromium Automation is one of several browser automation methods available in UI Automation. If you also need to automate Firefox or Safari, or to attach to a browser already open on the user's desktop, the Browser Extension and the WebDriver protocol are available for those scenarios.
